Prophetic Poetic Music For The Soul

New Audio: Sleeping Showers

Sleeping Showers

Sleeping Showers is a rich, nuanced album composed by two young artists on an impressive grind to advance their craft. Our homie Clutch (Hamilton, ON) provides a diverse canvas for lyricist MC Forty (Cincinnati, OH) to paint. The result is worth taking in. Download for Free via Bandcamp.

The Runaway picks: Sleeping Showers, Goodnightrous, Don't Sleep, Double Dope, Don't Fear the Unknown

Warning: This record does have some language not suitable for pre-teens.

The Runaway interview with Sketch the Journalist

Da’ T.R.U.T.H. – J.I.F.E. music video

Peep the visuals for this inspiring new song from Da' T.R.U.T.H entitled "J.I.F.E." (Jesus is For Everybody). While I'm not usually down with songs that respond to 'haters', TRUTH strives to clarify his position in ministry as lovingly as possible. By the time the 'extras' come in on the chorus, you should be hooked. Like I said, very inspiring.

Sho Baraka’s Talented Xth – a discussion

Sketch the Journalist does an absolutely fabulous job covering the Christian Hip-Hop scene both nationally and in his home state of Texas. He continues to get the 'big interviews' and asks the poignant questions about the Christian's place in hip-hop culture. Continue to check out his blog for great content.

Posted below is an hour long discussion about Sho Baraka's intelligent and thought provoking new release Talented Xth. Sketch writes:

It was hosted by author Seth Tower Hurd and included hip hop artist/urban missionary Kareem Manuel and Ta-Tanisha Jordan, a Chicago-based actress who will be opening up a Children’s Theater Company this fall.

Our talk was sparked by the release of Sho Baraka’s Talented Xth album (which hit #3 on iTunes’ Hip Hop/Rap charts yesterday) and his “Jim Crow” song that uses the “n-word” and “b-word” – something that surprises and shocks people given Sho’s past affiliation with one of  Christian hip hop’s most visible record labels.

This discussion is definitely worth your time. Check it out.
